It dispenses minute particles of sulphur as vapour which penetrates the densest foliage to attack pests hidden in the leaf axils or on the underside of leaves. Sulphur fumes will prevent crop damage caused by powdery mildew, black spot, spider mite and many other greenhouse pests or fungal diseases.
It is ideal for protecting roses, strawberries, saint paulia, begonias, tomatoes, peppers and gerbera.
We recommend using the Sulfume for between 2 – 4 hours per night until the infestation has been cured. If using for preventative measures, we recommend about 2 hours, 2 to 3 times a week.
Although both the Sulfume and Sulphur Candles are used to combat the same greenhouse pests they are used in different ways.
The Sulphur Candle is a tin of sulphur which is ignited using a small wick. Once lit the sulphur will burn and produce a vapour. This is what they call an “uncontrolled burn” and can also produce sulphur oxides which can be harmful to plants.
The Sulfume however has a regulated temperature control which generates a temperature of between 145*C and 155* C. This is the ideal temperature at which natural sulphur begins to melt and vaporise – never actually burning – and so only emits pure sulphur which is more efficient and cleaner allowing plants to be left where they are undisturbed.
